Hong Kong’s skyline is one of the most recognized in the world. For the thousands of tourists who flock to the Tsimshatsui promenade every day to photograph the vista, they never fail to be amazed by the sight. But when you are standing at 100 floors up looking down on not just at the waterfront, but the whole of Hong Kong Island and Tsimshatsui, the view takes your breath away.
“This isn’t just the tallest building in Hong Kong, it’s also the only place where one can enjoy a 360-degree view of the city,” said Josephine Lam, Managing Director of sky100 Hong Kong Observation Deck (sky100). “This is what makes it so popular not just with tourists, but local residents too.”
Just as the Eiffel Tower and Empire State Building are “must-visit” destinations in Paris and New York, so is sky100. Hong Kong’s only member of The World Federation of Great Towers, sky100 is located on the 100th floor of the International Commerce Centre (ICC), the tallest building in Hong Kong.
Fostering local pride
To achieve real success, Lam believes that a tourist attraction must always reflect the unique personality and vitality of its hometown. “We really want local people to think of sky100 as belonging to them and to be proud of it,” she explained. “That way, everyone in Hong Kong becomes our ambassador and they introduce sky100 to their relatives and friends worldwide.”
This is reflected in the deck’s year-round promotional strategies. “The key to winning worldwide recognition is to resonate with both locals and tourists,” Lam continued. “For us, ‘to resonate’ means enabling people to find their own stories at sky100.”
A unique venue for events
sky100 is now firmly established as one of Hong Kong’s top-tier venues for a huge variety of functions, including corporate gala dinners, exhibitions, product launches, fashion shows, cocktail parties, anniversary celebrations, seminars and meetings, press conferences and even weddings.
To date, sky100 Events has attracted an impressive clientele of both local and international companies. In 2014, some 70 business events and wedding banquets were hosted on the deck, with a corporate client list that includes The Hong Kong Jockey Club, Giorgio Armani, Christian Dior, Estee Lauder, I.T., Fuji Xerox, BMW, Sony and Huawei.
“We’re expecting even more events in 2015,” said Lam. “Building on our successful track record, we believe that sky100 Events will further enhance the reputation of sky100 and ensure it always remains one of Hong Kong’s best-loved destinations.”
